PAUL ABBOTT

Elder

1) How long have you been a Christian?

Hard for me to believe, but I've been a

Christian for half a century now.  The sovereign grace of God intervened in my life in January 1973 when I was 19 years old, and I will be eternally grateful--literally.

2) What do you like about this kind of church life?

It comes down to three serious commitments this church lives out practically: to Jesus, to the Bible, and to one another.  Not easy to find all three of those in the same place.

3) Tell a little about your family (including spouse, kids, how many grandkids).

I've been married to my wonderful wife and ministry partner Alsie since 1975.  We have two grown children and four grandkids.

4) Do you have a favorite part of the Bible (verse and/or passage and/or book)? What is it, and why?

This is difficult to answer since my favorite verse is not in my favorite passage, and my favorite passage is not in my favorite book. Book: 2 Corinthians, because of its in-depth description of authentic New Covenant ministry.  Passage: Ephesians 4:1-16, because of its amazing revelation of biblical church life. Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:58, because of its encouragement to persevere in the work of God.  Praise God for His Word.

5) What contact info is best for you, should someone want to reach out?

The quickest way to reach me  is by e-mail: am2pm1975@comcast.net--unless it's our rest day (Tuesdays), when we're unavailable.

HAROLD GIBSON

Elder

1) How long have you been a Christian?

I've been a Christian for twenty-five years. In 1998 I accepted Jesus in my heart as my personal Savior. Best decision I have ever made. I'm living the abundant life in Jesus.

2) What do you like about this kind of church life?

I could go on and on; however, the most immediate standout is relationships. I have a better relationship with my Lord through His Spirit, through His Word, and through my brothers and sisters with whom I share this life. I am constantly being built up and edified. I benefit greatly  from the love and kindness of being a part of something good, GLF.

3)  Tell a little about your family (including spouse, kids, how many grandkids).

I've been married since 2005 to my lovely wife Catherine. We have a blended family of five children, and nine grandchildren. (I have a loving mother who is also a member of Grace Life. I look at family as a blessing from God, but praise God for the resource of spiritual family.

4) Do you have a favorite part of the Bible (verse and/or passage and/or book). What is it, and why?

I love the whole counsel of God. The Bible, as the Word of God, is always on time. My all-time favorite chapter is Romans 8, starting with verse 1: “Therefore there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Before Jesus, my life was full of guilt, shame, and remorse, but God has set me free from this body of death. The bookend of that chapter is verse 39: nothing created “will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”. Praise god we are completely accepted in Christ.

5) What contact is best for you, should someone want to reach out?

The best way to contact me would be by cell phone :(570) 974-1747. You can just leave a voice mail and I will be sure to get back to you. If you text, please allow a few hours to get a response.

MIKE HOOVER

Elder

1) How long have you been a Christian?

I was saved in September of 1987, so I've been a Christian for more than 30 years.

2) What do you like about this kind of church life?

What I love most about this kind of church is the relationships we share and commitment to God's Word, the Bible. The church is committed to the Bible and abounding love for each other.

3) Tell a little about your family (including spouse, kids, how many grandkids).

I've been married to Brenda Waltz since 1988. We have four children: two sons and two daughters, along with three grandchildren.

4) Do you have a favorite part of the Bible (verse and/or passage and/or book)? What is it, and why?

I do not have a particular favorite but use any and all verses that are brought to mind, much like one would use a tool for the purpose laid out.

5) What contact info is best for you, should someone want to reach out?

I can be reached at 570-435-4213 or mike.hoover@landstarmail.com.
